This experimental piece explores artist's relationship with thier mother, using the traditional Chinese story Little Tadpoles Looking for Mom as its narrative foundation. Through an in-camera matte box featuring a traditional Chinese window shape as a mask for multiple exposures, the film creates both a visual and thematic analogy for the process of depicting my mother beyond the expectations of motherhood. It also reflects the delicate connection—and inherent distance—between mother and daughter, woman and woman.
